BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
❖ In view of lively rural surroundings with rich plant diversity and bio-culture, there has been a candid demand for opening of Biological Science department in Dr. Lakireddy & Hanimireddy Government Degree College and therefore in 2008 formally the Bioscience Group BSc., (B.Z.C) Botany, Zoology & chemistry was opened. Since then the Department of Botany has been enrolled for the general stream of course. The Department of Botany is known for its academic excellence, high calibre faculty, and greatly enriching co-curricular activities.
❖ Plinth area of the department – 140 sq mts.
❖ The Botanical Garden was developed in 2018 and has been maintained till date.
❖ Herbal medicinal garden was developed in 2019
❖ Parental education is also lacking and majority is from Working class(Daily wages, farmer oriented)
❖ The percentage of admitted strength has been on the increase during 2017-21.
❖ The pattern of teaching in this Institution reflects the admissions, though there are many Educational Institutions are there in the Mylavaram
VISION:
❖ To develop Botany as integral part of the every human existence not only as an academic discipline
MISSION:
❖ To train up students to self expertise in frontier areas of plant sciences
❖ To involve students to participate in biodiversity conservation activities
